CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Here are abbreviated terms and conditions:
The Emerging Writers' Prize of Prose and the Emerging Writers' Prize of Poetry are open to emerging authors and writers only. Emerging writers are defined as individuals who have not yet published a full-length, single-authored, commercially printed work in poetry, prose, or a hybrid form spanning these genres. However, emerging writers who have exclusively published their works in electronic format, or have contributed to anthologies or collections featuring pieces from multiple authors, remain eligible.
The Translators' Prize is open to translators at all stages of their career.
Entrants warrant that their submission is their original work, and that they hold exclusive authorship and ownership of the copyright therein. Entrants also assert that their submission does not infringe upon any existing copyright, license, or other third-party rights.
The Prizes open on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, at 6:00 pm (GMT+8) and close at midnight (GMT+8) on Sunday, 30 June 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted. The winner will be announced on the Festival's and the AAWP website no later than Monday, 30 September 2024.
The entry requirements for the Emerging Writers' Prize of Poetry, the Emerging Writers’ Prize for Prose and the Translators' Prize are notably specific. Please visit Submittable (the entry portal) and the AAWP Prizes Page for the full terms and conditions of all prizes.
When entrants submit their work via Submittable, they should use the section marked ‘Cover Letter’ to write their full name and a 100-word author bio (as they would like it to appear on any prize announcements). Entrants are welcome to submit as many entries as they desire, with each subsequent entry incurring a separate fee. However, once submitted, entrants are unable to alter their entries. Additionally, the submitted work must not have been published, including in online publications.
Please visit Submittable (the entry portal) and the AAWP Prizes Page for the full terms and conditions of all prizes.
Entries should be anonymous and de-identified. The author’s name or any other identifying characteristics should not appear on the submission.
The judges’ verdict is final and absolute. The judges will not engage in correspondence or discussion about the outcome.
Any entries that do not follow these conditions of entry will be disqualified. No refunds will be given for disqualified entries.
